Hope + Joy // December 2017 Update

Clap your hands, all you nations;
shout to God with cries of joy.

Psalm 47:1 (NIV)

Attention, Ohio friends!

Next week, I’ll be heading home to Ohio between December 20-January 10 to spend the holidays with family and friends. I’ll be splitting my time between Columbus and Toledo, so let me know if you’d like to meet and catch up! I will NOT have a U.S. phone while in the States, but you can contact me through Facebook Messenger, Instagram, or email.

Transition to Missions Coordinator

Last month, my friend and co-worker Adriana Galán transitioned into another job with a local company here in San Salvador. We already miss her a lot, but also praise God for His provision of this job that she greatly desired!

That being said, I inherited the role of Missions Coordinator for our ministry. This includes managing all of the communication, pre- and post-planning involved with hosting mission teams that come to serve with our local church, health clinics and Children’s Development Centers. Under Pastor Victor’s leadership, I’ll be with each team the week they are here with us to make sure things go smoothly and also serve alongside them.

I’ve been serving with mission teams as a translator and helping Adriana out with whatever she needed since I moved here. Despite the familiarity and experience I already have with mission teams, taking on this new role will definitely be a challenge and keep me pretty busy in 2018! To account for this change, my previous role of managing the English Program at our CDCs will be passed along to other missionaries on staff here. I will continue to be the Sponsorship Coordinator for our CDCs, which will be the other main role I have along with Mission Teams Coordinator.

[ wishing you the best, Adri! ]

Christmas at the Children’s Development Centers!

Although regular classes are on break until January, we got to spend a few precious days with the children at both of our CDCs celebrating Christmas with them! Thanks to a few local and international partners, our children enjoyed gifts, yummy food and a magician during these joyful days.

To see short video re-caps of our parties, visit our instagram page HERE or our Facebook page HERE.

As we come up on Christmas, let’s take some time to rejoice in the victory of Jesus over death and find peace in God’s great love and acceptance of us. I hope you can enjoy some precious moments in the coming weeks with family and friends.

Feliz navidad y próspero año nuevo,
Ali

Prayer Requests

  • That my trip home in later this month will be restful and joyful as I look ahead to an exciting year of ministry in 2018.
  • For wisdom and guidance in preparing for mission teams coming next year.
  • For Adriana as she transitions into life with a new job within the field she studies in college.
  • For our children and their families from the CDCs as they will be on break from the CDC for the next few weeks. That they will be safe and have a chance to recharge before school starts in January.
